Sellers will respond at varying times. Some sellers will reply to offers within a few hours of receipt while others may take a couple of days. Generally, how long it takes a seller to respond to an offer is based on the seller's current situation, how busy he/she is, and how quickly he/she can make a decision regarding the offer. Most "serious" sellers make every effort to respond to an offer within one or two days after their offer is received. This is especially important to do when the real estate market is hot. However, if a seller has received multiple offers or if a decision to accept/reject an offer must be discussed with a spouse/partner/family member/real estate agent, then it could take a longer time for that seller to respond to your offer. In instances where an offer is taking an extraordinary length of time to receive a response, you can inquire to your agent or through the offer system for status updates. In many instances when the seller replies quickly after receiving the offer, this indicates that the seller has a significant interest in your offer and that the seller is ready to move forward with your offer.
