Samastipur ia a town and amunicipality (Nagar Parishad) in Bihar, India. It is the headquarter ofsamastipur district. The burhi Gandak river flows through the town. Samastipur used to be a part ofthe Darbhanga district until 1972, when the Samastipur district was carved out of Darbangha.Samastipur is an administrative centre for the East Central Railway. There areseveral industries and small-scale industries which include a sugar factorynear Magardahi ghat (Now Closed). The thaneshwar temple complex is located inthe heart of the town. There is a famous Shiv Temple, known as Baba KhudneshwarDham. The Temple located 16 km form Samastipur near Morwa block is uniqueexample of Hindu-Muslim unity. Temple is presently under renovation by localsociety members.Now this Place is Known as KHUDNESWAR DHAM. During Mahasivratrifestival religious crowd from all corners of district are visiting this placefor the prayer. The most common language spoken in Samastipur is Theti(similarto Maithli),Urdu, although Hindi and English are used generally for official ordiplomatic use. It is considered as a very sweet language.
